Hours Per Week- 25, M-F 8:00am-1:00pm
Primary Responsibility and Duties
- Read packing slip and verify accurate count of meals before leaving the Central kitchen.
- Load the van with bulk food and/or packaged food containers in an organized fashion, following procedures to maintain temperature.
- Deliver food to specified sites/locations per established route, ensuring accuracy of counts and using mobile meals app as appropriate for home deliveries.
- Relay messages from the kitchen to the distribution sites and vice versa, and report any messages or changes in client condition using the mobile meal app.
- Pick up and return empty food containers to main kitchen clean and in good order.
- Perform utility work, and maintenance in assigned vehicle as needed and directed by supervisor.
- Return van each day with gas as appropriate and all assigned work tools to main office daily in good working order.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
- Adhere to all Maryland State standards for road safety.
- Assist in taking and recording food temperatures as requested.
- Substitute for other routes in order to fill in where and as needed.
- Maintain a driving record free of accidents for twelve (12) months.
- Maintain customer/client concern record free of concerns/complaints for twelve (12) months
Additional Duties
- Attend and fully participates in all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed
- Assist with and attends special events held by the Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland as necessary
- Uphold the vision, mission and values of Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland.
- Create a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers, ensuring that they are used effectively by staff to meet program goals
- Protects the confidentiality and integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI) according to Meals on Wheels' relevant policies and procedures.
- Other duties as requested by supervisor
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Able to lift objects a minimum of 50 pounds
- Able to perform all functions independently
- Basic knowledge of food sanitation and HACCP guidelines
- Proficient in following the driving safety guidelines as required by the Agency
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid MD Drivers license with no more than one (1) point at hire and maintains a driving record of three (3) or less points during employment with Meals on Wheels of Central MD.
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate
- One to two years of related experience
